Annual Meeting Minutes

January 12, 2006

President Karla Smith called the meeting to order at 7:00PM with 26 members present. Mary Blake moved and Barb Thome seconded to approve the agenda. All voted aye. Matt Hemann moved and Harry Isaac seconded to approve the minutes from 2005 as distributed. All voted aye.

Harlan Bisbee passed out the treasurer’s report. The balance in a CD is $10,000 and the checking account’s balance is $6,164.02. Barb Thome moved and Becky Juenger seconded to approve the treasurer’s report. All voted aye.

A few comments about the 2005 Brat Daze included: it cost too much to have the climbing wall and bucking bronco ($1750); the parade route going to the nursing home does not work as well since Hemann Electric constructed a new building. Over all Brat Daze had a profit of $6604. The Community Club made $2745 when RAGBRAI came thru town in July.

Much discussion was held about the upcoming 150th Celebration. Events other that the usual Brat Daze include at this time, walking tour, Farmall Promenade, Car show, Belgian waffles, variety show, historical church service, fireworks, lumber jack show and an improved parade. Help is needed especially for the walking tour. Also donations are needed to help pay for the larger items.

The Thread Clippers said that they wanted to do a mini quilt show at the school building for the 150th weekend. Hank Landherr reported that the daycare is doing well and running "in the black". Trees Forever reported they had spent $1000 in Riverside Park.

Barb Bissen reported that some parents have started a youth center activities night at the school gym. Currently the supervised gym is open on Saturday night from 8:00 to midnight. There were 30 kids in attendance last Saturday. Barb stated that there was not any equipment of games at the gym and wanted to know if the Community Club would be interested in funding those items. The group agreed that the project was worth funding.

The officers presented their recommendation for the annual donations based upon the requests that had been received. Jody Janssen moved and Tom Landherr seconded to give $5,250 (itemized list at the end of the minutes) to the organizations of Stacyville.

Brian Juenger told the group that the Welcome to Stacyville signs the 4-H did a few years ago need to be redone. It was hopeful that something could be done before the 150th Celebration. More information will be gathered before the next meeting as to cost, design changes and grant possibilities.

Harry Isaac moved and Matt Hemann seconded to elect Pat Wagner President, Karla Smith Vice President and Harlan Bisbee Sec/Treas. All voted aye.

The next meeting, which will be for the planning of the 150th will be February 16 at 7:00PM at the library. Karla Smith declared the meeting adjourned.
