COUNCIL PROCEEDINGS – FEBRUARY 21, 2008

CITY OF STACYVILLE

Mayor Harold Isaac called a special February meeting of the Stacyville City Council to order at 7:35 p.m. on Thursday, February 21, 2008, with council members Gervin Halbach, Walter Carter, Paul Halbach, Roger Brumm, and Roger Hemann present.  The Mayor then welcomed all guests and called for approval of the meeting agenda.  Brumm moved to accept the agenda, seconded by Hemann and carried. No minutes were presented for approval.

Tom Madden of Yaggy Colby was present to discuss various topics with the council.  He said that the state historical will be doing soil borings in the Phase II water project area this spring.  This will likely set back the time line for starting the project.  The council told Madden to see if a private company could do the work yet this winter so as to keep the project on time.

The USDA wants a bonding attorney involved with their loan.  They will also need to review the addition of a force main for the Industrial Park sewer before that can be started.  The culvert at the Industrial Park will need to be sized to handle either a 25 or 50 year flood.  The council will decide which size when the cost estimates are available.

The City will be getting two new poly pumps at the new wells.  Also new chorine pumps will be ordered.  The City will be trying a different poly phosphate to help the iron problem.  If the City installs an iron filter, it will cost about $60,000 to $80,000.  The Council will wait to see if other changes will help the iron problem before committing to that expenditure.

Motion to adjourn at 8:50 by Hemann second by Carter and carried.
