Public Services

City Water, Sewer and Garbage are billed quarterly by the City Clerk. Water meters are read at the end of March, June, September and December. Bills are mailed on the 10th of the following months (April, July, October, and January). Payment is due on the 1st of the month after billing: May August, November, and February. A 5% penalty is added to the bill if not paid by the first of the month. If bills are not paid by the 20th of the month, the resident will be notified by mail that water will be shut off, along with a $25.00 fee. Water will not be turned on until the bill, with penalties, is paid in full. Monthly payments are optional--as a prepayment on the following quarter, calculated as one-third of the previous quarter’s bill. The City requires a $25.00 fee at the time of a new service. (Garbage service is contracted to McNealy Sanitation of Osage.)

Gas & Electric Utilities For electrical and natural gas service, call Alliant Energy toll-free at 1-800-255-4268. LP gas service is available from Stacyville LP Gas (641-710-2478) and Co-op Oil Company (800-967-6138).

Cable Television, Telephone & Internet Service Telephone service and Internet access is available from either of two providers: Iowa Telecom (1-877-901-4692) and Omnitel Communications (1-877-666-4835). Cable television service is also available from Omnitel.
